Laila E. Linn, 78, a native of Montgomery County, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday at the Ben Hur Nursing Home. She had been ill several months. Born March 18, 1889, east of Mace, she was the daughter of John W. and Mary Anna Martin Linn. She was graduated in 1908 from Crawfordsville High School and in 1917 from DePauw University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She never married. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church near Mace, but transferred to the Edgewater Presbyterian Church in Chicago, where she served as librarian, secretary and treasurer in the junior department from 1917 until 1948. At the same time, she worked for the Hartford Livestock Insurance Co., supervising the claim department until her retirement. She then returned to Crawfordsville and resided at 611 E. Wabash Ave. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. Burial will be in the Mace K of P Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr
